About Bowling for the Animals
Click here to see Last Year’s Awesome Top Ten Fundraiser Prizes Bowling for the Animals is an annual fundraising event. Bowlers and supporters collect sponsorship pledges from friends, family, and fellow animal lovers. The day of the event, a great time is had by all at the bowling alley. Prizes are waiting for the Highest Scoring Bowler, Top Ten Highest Fundraisers, and the “Predict Your Score” Game winner.
To top it all off there are scrumptious vegan munchies (lunch buffet and coffee & dessert) and a fabulous raffle. Cash-only full bar available. As you can see you don’t have to bowl well to score big! In fact, B4A supporters don’t even have to attend the event to have a shot at the big prizes. Whether you bowl or not, if you are one of the Top Ten Fundraisers a prize is yours!
Who Gets the Money?
Each event’s funds raised are divided between various local animal organizations. Past beneficiaries include The Foundation for the Care of Indigent Animals, Emergency Wildlife Rehab, Feral Cat Coalition, The House Rabbit Society, Saint Nicholas Hope for Animals, and SNAP Spay Neuter Action Project. List of past beneficiaries
The 2009 event will benefit an exciting new project: a stationary clinic dedicated to low-cost spay/neuter! SNAP and Feral Cat Coalition are teaming up to fix even more companion animals and feral cats in the future. This stationary clinic will open soon in San Diego. Watch www.snap-sandiego.org for updates.
Looking to the Future
After a very successful 2007 event with $27,000 raised for four animal organizations, Bowling for the Animals changed hands. The dedicated volunteers of Vegan Coalition passed on the fundraiser to SNAP Spay Neuter Action Project of San Diego.
SNAP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the goal of “zero euthanasia” of adoptable companion animals in San Diego County. SNAP raises public awareness through education, and provides the public with access to reduced-rate spay/neuter for their pets. We are pleased to have the support of our bowling friends which will keep us going strong!
Carrying on the Bowling for the Animals tradition, SNAP will share each event’s proceeds with a local animal organization promoting the spay & neuter of companion animals and feral cats. The 2008 even raised $13,000 to benefit SNAP and the Feral Cat Coalition.
Bowling for the Animals 2009
The 11th Annual Bowling for the Animals will take place Sunday, April 26th, 2009 at the Vista Entertainment Center. Advance registration required! Sign up now.
How it Works
Miss Kitty signs up to bowl and asks Mr. Puppy Dog and Ms. Bunny to sponsor her. Mr. Puppy Dog sponsors her 25 cents for every pin she knocks down in her highest game. Ms. Bunny sponsors her for a flat pledge of $25 and convinces two of her coworkers to throw in another $25 pledge each.
Miss Kitty’s highest game score is 100 points which she uses to calculate the money she will make for the animals.
100 point game x 25 cents a point = $25, plus the $25 flat pledges from Ms. Bunny and her two coworkers totals $100.
You can see from this example that we have the potential to make a lot of money for the animals, especially if we have 200 bowlers like Miss Kitty participating.
Not a Great Bowler?
You don’t have to be a good bowler to make money for the animals… in fact many regular B4A bowlers aren’t. Sponsorship is the key to success in this game. Remember it’s all about having fun — and helping animals!
Prizes go to the Top Ten Fund Raisers even if they don’t bowl at all. But it’s more fun if you do! Ask your family, friends, acquaintances, and even businesses to sponsor you. You will be surprised at the positive response you will get if you just ask.
A sponsor may pledge any amount of money per pin knocked down, or may pledge a flat amount. The suggested minimum sponsorship amount per bowler is $100.
It’s easy to do… just find $10 friends to sponsor you for $10 each. Did you know? $100 will fix four cats, or two rabbits at our new stationary clinic!
Prizes and More
After bowling we will tally your highest score and sponsorship pledges. Be sure to bring your Sponsor Sign-Up Sheet with you to the bowling alley. We will be awarding great prizes to the Top Ten Highest Fund Raisers, the Highest Scoring Bowler, the “Predict Your Score” game winner, and door prize winners. There will be yummy vegan munchies and prizes galore!

Donate a Prize or Snacks/Drinks
B4A attendees are an animal-loving, earth-friendly crowd and if your business fits that description there’s no better venue to get the word out and gain new customers. Please consider donating a raffle prize or Grand Prize for our top fundraisers and bowlers.
We also welcome your VEGAN food and drink donations. Please contact us to make arrangements for your tax-deductible donation: call 760-450-7834 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Solicit Raffle Prizes and Prizes for the Top Bowlers & Fundraisers
The months leading up to Bowling for the Animals are a great time to solicit prizes. The bigger our raffle and the better our prizes, the more funds we will raise for the animals.
Look for businesses whose products and services would appeal to an animal-loving, earth-friendly crowd. Examples are pet-related businesses (think dogs, cats, rabbits…). Look for pet stores, grooming salons, pet sitting businesses, veterinarians, etc. Health food stores, bookstores, earth-friendly cosmetics stores, gardening businesses, and more are great places to ask for prize donations. Check with hotels, restaurants, and cafes (especially vegan) for weekend packages or gift certificates.
Use your imagination and don’t be afraid to ask! A blank solicitation letter will be added shortly.
To arrange for drop-off or pick-up of your treasures, please call 760-450-7834 or email email@example.com
